About Ishushiy Drakonov

I have been dreaming about Borzoi’s for a long time, and almost 4 years ago, my dream came true and my first Borzoi arrived on the scene, the lovely Aragon du Grand Fresnoy. He was quickly joined by Andalousie du Grand Fresnoy and the two of them lived happily together with me in our apartment here in southern Spain.

In 2008, I moved into the country together with a friend of mine and we now have a lot of land for the two of them to run and play.At the beginning of 2009, we were joined by a new Borzoi family member, little (ok, not so little anymore) Desdemone du Grand Fresnoy, now almost 2 years old.

My friend Ingo already had a dog he rescued at the beginning of 2008, she was simply abandoned in the village. She is a lovely German Shorthair and her name is Klara.

Artemis Frajanka joined us not even 3 months old in February this year and one month later I picked up Elven King in the Name of Love in France, at almost 4 months.

Elven has now reached Andalousie’s size and weight and Artemis is almost as big as Desdemone. They both love to play and are happy and confident young dogs. Elven still is very subordinate to Aragon which is exactly the way it should be – one look of Ari is enough for him to stop pestering. Artemis loves to play with Klara, Elven, Desdemone & Andalousie, pretty much in that order. With Elven, it is usually Mexican standoff and lots of running, Daisy is a lot more of a second mom, while with Andalousie, it is more trying to see if she has the courage to play with the Alpha female of the group. Sometimes Artemis looks surprised at her own daring!

We have now made a decision to add another arrival to the group. Looking at various breeders sites, we have noticed the Kennel “Du Joyau du Bois” in the South of France and have contacted them when they announced their latest litter, even before the puppies were born. And now, little Faïzabad Floradelys du Joyau du Bois will join us in mid July.

Also, we have now had our first mating at Ishushiy Drakonov and are hoping for our first litter of Ishushiy Drakonov puppies at the end of July.

Our aim is to breed Borzoi with good temprament, the hunting instinct of the breed as well as sound conformation and adherence to the  FCI Standard. We want to have strong and healthy dogs who are a joy for their families and can be equally successful in the show ring as well as in sport.
