The Storm Litter at 2 weeks

5 August 2010

Today we were at the vet to see how many puppies we can expect out of Andalousie. We already thought there would be less than with Desdemone, as she is smaller than Daisy was at this time in her pregnancy, but she is also a bigger dog, so smaller is relative. Well, here is the x-ray and yes, there are 7 puppies waiting to be born.

30 July 2010

About 10 more days until the birth of Andalousie´s puppies. We are waiting with bated breath, but hope the litter will be a little smaller than that of Desdemone. It does look that way, at T-10, Daisy was already as big as a house (at least it looked that way), while Lulu is still a lot thinner. However, she is growing nicely rounded, and my guess is about 5 or 6 puppies for her.  We will have an x-ray in about a week and then we will know more.

19 July 2010

We have been to a different veterinarian today and had an ultrasound for Andalousie. And we saw at least 4, maybe even 5 puppies. As with Desdemone, that does not mean that is all there will be, but just confirms that Lulu is indeed pregnant.

Here is a picture of our Princess Andalousie, in her favourite place at the moment, from where she reigns over both human and caninine members of the family, LOL.

15 July 2010

The vet has confirmed Andalousie’s pregnancy today, however, we are not sure how many puppies at this stage, but think there will be less than with Desdemone as she is a lot smaller in the belly than Desdemone was at the same time.

Unfortunately, our vet did not have a functioning ultrasound machine, so it has been done the old fashioned way, with palpating her belly and looking at her other symptoms (increased appetite, increased need for caresses and loving).

We will keep you posted with further developments as they occur and we are going to try and see if we can have an ultrasound done at another vet’s next week.

11 June 2010

Today the mating between Gib JCH Aragon du Grand Fresnoy and Andalousie du Grand Fresnoy took place. We are looking forward to the birth of the puppies towards 11 August 2010, from this pairing of the first Ishushiy Drakonov’s Borzois.
